Getting To Know: Rebekah Vinyard

Hi!

When we launched the website this was the part I was most excited to share with you. The artists, makers, designers that grace our little space are the reason I am happy to come to the shop every day. They are what make Solid Gold a warm and inviting place full of creative energy and light. I am especially proud to introduce these special people to you. For our first official “get to know her” post I can’t be more honored to feature the lovely and talented Rebekah Vinyard.

I had the pleasure of meeting her 9 years ago and was immediately smitten with her as a person, and her beautiful creations which were clearly special. Solid Gold was the first to carry her jewelry, and we are so happy that others have recognized Rebekah’s unique gift - she is now carried in over 100 shops! Yay Rebekah!!

Rebekah's designs are dreamt up and brought to life in her Austin, TX studio. Inspired by architecture, simple geometric shapes, and ancient relics and symbols, she strives to create pieces of jewelry that make a statement while remaining effortlessly wearable. She designs and assembles each piece herself, paying special attention to detail and quality.

We recently visited with Rebekah in her home/studio where we got to see her work and ask her silly questions. Get to know her! She’s awesome.

Katie:
We have been working together for quite a while now and through that relationship I love that we have have become friends! I feel like I’ve gotten to know you pretty well, but I’d like to ask you a few questions that people (including me!) may or may not know about you:)
So the obvious one for an artist: What inspires you? (But I guess it’s also the most important one!)

Rebekah:
I've always been inspired by geometric shapes, architecture, clean lines and especially ancient relics and symbols from all over the world. These are the things I go back to over and over again when creating new designs.

Katie:
As a small business owner, mom, wife, friend, all around superwoman how do you stay organized and keep deadlines?

Rebekah:
Ha! That's very sweet but I rarely feel organized. For me, life is a constant balancing act and I hardly ever feel like I am giving all the things the right amount of attention. I try to remember to be kind to myself though and just readjust the scales as needed. Also, I have a pretty amazing partner in my husband, that helps!

Katie:
Are you a good cook? (And if so, can we come over for dinner?)

Rebekah:
I'm an OK cook. No one's talking about it or anything. But I do really love to bake! I'll bring you some cookies next time I pop in. :)

Katie:
Who’s your go to band or artist when you can’t decide on something to listen to?

Rebekah:
Lately, I've been listening to Molly Burch nonstop.

Katie:
What was the best compliment you’ve received?

Rebekah:
That's a tough one! It does feel pretty good to see my designs unexpectedly, out in the world. Seeing a complete stranger wearing something I made with my two hands is my favorite compliment.

Katie:
Last words?

Rebekah:
Thanks for taking a chance on me all those years ago (shout out to Stacy Pearl for the introduction! :)) I'm so glad to have such a rad friend in you!

Katie:
I fell exactly the same! All love!
